Alan Sharaf connected with this 30-pound striped bass while trolling a live mackerel off Chatham with Capt. Alan Hastbacka of Got Stryper Charters this week.
Stripers from 12 to 32 inches, many in huge schools, are all the chatter from Westport Harbor to Barnstable inlet and on up to Provincetown. This is a great time if you enjoy topwater action and fishing with light tackle and small jigs. These fish first showed up off South Shore Beach and Quicksand point at the Mass/Rhode Island border, and then they moved into Buzzards Bay and into the Canal. Anglers from Barnstable to the Race report great action on fish from 17 to 32 inch bass on top and along the bottom. One angler reported his Humminbird showing what he described as swarms of fish. The stars of the fishing world this week are the great shots and videos of the great whites eating hooked bass, plugs, gaffs and all.
