FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
North Shore

Posted By Geoffrey Lawrence, August 6, 2018
Solid porgy action is being found from City Island to Mt. Sinai.
Currently porgies are still the most abundant and reliable species for anglers. Whether from the shore or from a boat, anglers are filling their buckets when the weather cooperates. They are up and down the Sound from City Island to Mount Sinai. Sandworms, bloodworms and clams are what you need. Of course, chumming never hurts. Fluking was less than stellar. A few nice size fish were taken but the shorts dominated the action. The basic advice from the shops was to work the deep areas from 30 to 40-ft. for a shot at keepers.
