FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
West End South

Posted By Geoffrey Lawrence, September 10, 2018
The West End is seeing good numbers of quality fluke like these caught aboard the Capt. Lou Fleet.
Fluking was fair to good depending on the area and it remains to be seen what affects the heavy weather will have on the flatties. Ambrose Channel is in the beginning stages of the fall run and fish to 10-pounds were taken. The Cholera, Hempstead Reef and the McAllister Grounds were also productive. However, don't dismiss the bay just yet. A 12.66-pound specimen was hauled in at the Meadowbrook Bridge on a bucktail. Porgies are giving plenty of action to the west. Sea bass are holding steady on local wrecks and reefs but the keeper ratio is only decent.
