FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Southern New Jersey

Posted By Bob Misak, October 8, 2018
“Congrats to Kimberly for her first ever striper,” said Cathy from Sportman’s Outpost and Sterling Harbor Tackle. Cathy called back bay catch and release top water action “excellent” in recent days.
The past week in South Jersey was another one of transition as anglers who have boats in were awaiting the arrival of sea bass season, so they could again breach the inlets and head out front. October 8 is the magic day and typically, this is the time of year when captains begin to find some hefty blackfish as well. Inshore waters are holding fish and folks are either messing around with the bass and weakies up in the Mullica or whacking cocktail blues. Some reports of a few puppy drum are coming in, proving a cool down of local waters. Along with all the smalls hanging around have been some sheepsheads and anglers caught a few pinfish off Atlantic City’s jetties this being the time of year when you just don’t know what is on that line. Crabbing remains stellar, and this is the hottest time for drop-lining as well.
