WAITING IT OUT

WAITING IT OUT
With a few more stripers are heading down the beach from where they’re “exploding” off North Jersey, around 650 contestants are waiting for the 64th Annual LBI Surf Fishing Classic to “explode” with good fish. As of the weekend, T.J. Loughran, Jr. still holds a top slot with a 10.98-pounder weighed in at Surf City Bait and Tackle.
In case you wondered … they’re here. Reports of striped bass in the 40-pound range or better popped up over the weekend in spots all the way to Seaside. The bass fishing was slower Sunday as an armada of boats hit the water, but if you can get out on a quiet day or before the rest of the boaters, you can get in on some very good fishing. The sea bass minimum size has gone up, but there are still lots of fish to catch. If the weather cooperates, it should be a good week of fishing. Talk to you in two weeks – I will be away on a much-needed vacation next week (JB Kasper will be reporting on Central Jersey!)
