FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
North Shore

Posted By Geoffrey Lawrence, November 5, 2018
The Sound is alive with blackfish. This bulldog was caught aboard the Port Jeff based Celtic Quest.
Bass and blackfish are giving anglers all the action they can handle when weather conditions are favorable. From City Island up to CT the Sound is loaded with schoolie and keeper bass. Be prepared to capture them on diamond jigs, trolled bunker spoons or Mojo rigs, or worms and bunker chunks. Top spots are the Middle Grounds, buoy 11, the harbors at Northport and Stony Brook, and the Throgs Neck Bridge. Blackfish can be found in the rocky structure from 30 to 70-ft. All reports indicated that they will attack green or Asian crabs on bait rigs or jigs.
