SOUTHERN STRIPES
Steve Kingsdorf of Warminster, PA hit this 38-inch striper in the Cape May county surf on clam over the weekend. He later checked into Grassy Sound Marina in North Wildwood after releasing this fine catch.
Heading into the third weekend of November we had another tough stretch of weather with a mid-week storm interfering with anglers trolling out front, though some real bruiser striped bass were caught, mostly on mojos. While the weekend saw calmer weather and plenty of angler, striper schools were difficult to find to say the least. However, nice sized tog were setting up on the inshore reefs, and sea bass fishing was once again confined to deeper waters, 90 feet and better. With striper action still doing well up to Manasquan Inlet to the north, the bass run is far from over in South Jersey. Water temps are at that magical number, 56 degrees, and striped bass are here.
