New England

Steve Schott found 5 to 6 inches of solid ice in Eastern Massachusetts over the weekend and jigged up a nice pile of panfish on a 1/8-ounce Kastmaster.
After weeks of anglers complaining about not having any cold weather to make fishable ice in Southern New England, Mother Nature made up for lost time by dropping the overnight temps this weekend to well below zero Fahrenheit in some areas. Daytimes stayed in the single digits on Monday powered by gale-force winds. While this is helping the ice situation, it isn’t helping the cod boats get out (although the consensus is the cooling water temps might help trigger the bite when they get back out next.)
