TOG & TROUT TOPS
The breakwalls of Long Island Sound have been hot for blackfish this week as we approach the spring closure on 4/30.
Once again, with the spring blackfish season closing on April 30 in Connecticut, the bite has finally turned on! Lots of solid 4- to 6-pound fish are being caught with the occasional 8-pluys-pounder and even a couple double-digit fish from the Milford to New Haven area. The season remains open in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and anglers in both states also began reporting much, much better results this week, so don’t delay if you want that spring tog! Trout continue to be the best bet on the sweetwater side of things, as expected, thanks to continued stocking combined with rain keeping the rivers and streams flowing well.
