New England

A fine porgy landed aboard the Black Hawk this week while fishing over in New York waters.
Long Island Sound, Peconic Bay and Buzzards Bay are producing some great porgy catches right now, and if anyone was targeting them in-between (in Rhody waters) they’d likely find comparable hot action as well! There are plenty of double-headers of 2- and 3-plus pounders coming over the rails that your odds of getting a spot on the Dream Boat leaderboard right now are quite good, you just need to get out there and fish! Fluke reports are picking up slowly in New England waters, but they’re off to a very good start over in New York both inside Peconic Bay as well as around Montauk and to the South Shore. Up north, the cousin of the fluke—the winter flounder—started to cooperate a bit more this week, too, thanks to warming inshore waters around Quincy and Boston. This comes just in time for the 12th Annual Zobo Flounder Derby hosted by Fishin Finatics in Everett, MA, this Saturday, May 18.
