Buzzards Bay is producing some great black sea bass action right now with some big humpheads being caught. (Photo courtesy of Fishnet Charters)
Signs of the Fall Run have already begun to show along parts of the coast as small baitfish are schooling up and pods of bass, blues, bonito and chub mackerel have been seen gorging on them at times. Big bass are still being caught at night around Block Island on eels, and some big blues have been crashing the party from time to time. Bottom fishing is well into the summer pattern of deep water hunting for consistent success on black sea bass, fluke and porgies. The waters inside Buzzards Bay, around the Islands and on over to Montauk are holding the biggest humpies. Offshore fishing remains very good for sharks and mixed tuna with every piece of floating debris from here to the canyons holding mahi.
