FALL “BONUS” SEASONS
A hefty black sea bass landed this week by a happy angler onboard the Black Hawk!
September 1 marks the opening of the fall “Bonus Seasons” in both Rhode Island and Connecticut waters. In Rhode Island, anglers onboard for-hire vessels may harvest 50 porgies per angler from 9/1 – 10/31, and the bag limit on black sea bass increases from 3 to 7 fish per angler from 9/1 – 12/31. In Connecticut, anglers onboard for-hire vessels may harvest 50 porgies and 7 black sea bass per angler. The bag limit increase on porgies lasts from 9/1 – 10/3, and the sea bass bag limit increases lasts from 9/1 – 12/31. Again, the Connecticut bag limit increase is for FOR-HIRE ANGLERS ONLY. All private boat and shore anglers must abide by the existing regulations.
