Soft baits like the Tsunami Split-Tail Minnow are an albie favorite! (Photo by Toby Lapinski)
While they haven’t fully invaded spots to the west just yet, the past week saw a major shift towards and even into the east end of Long Island Sound. Waters from the Canal through the Vineyard and Nantucket and on over to Watch Hill saw good acioitn by boat and from shore. The winds probably had a lot to do with the bite not quite blowing wide open just yet, but if the predicted calm weather for the week holds up then this could be the week where albie fever takes full hold. There is plenty of bait in place with silversides, peanut bunker and super-tiny bay anchovies, so the table is set for some exciting action in the coming days.
