SOLID BASS ACTION IN RARITAN BAY

SOLID BASS ACTION IN RARITAN BAY
Bass to 25 pounds on opening day from Raritan Bay aboard Never Enough.
The warmer water brought about an increase in flattie activity. Flounder pounders in the west pulled up decent amounts of fish in Jamaica Bay and the Coney Island Flats. Fat ones to 3-pounds were taken. Worms were the top bait. Bass anglers didn’t score too well locally. Most fish caught were schoolies that were of course released. However, Raritan Bay saw solid action on opening day where the charter boat No Time scored big. A six man group limited on bass to 18-pounds employing bunker and Mojo rigs. Reports came in of some early season blues invading the waters around Lido Beach and Atlantic Beach. Loads of bunker showed up and hopefully the bass aren’t far behind. The party boat Super Hawk is still targeting cod on the offshore wrecks and the fares have hammered large cod to 33-pounds.
