FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Delaware, Maryland & Chesapeake Bay

Posted By Eric Burnley, May 15, 2017
It’s looking good for the Joe Morris Memorial Flounder Tournament this coming weekend on the Lewes Canal, which is where James and Julie Trickey from Wilmington fished the minnows and 4-inch glow Gulp! last week for flatties to 4-1/2 pounds
The big blues just keep coming. On Saturday, in all the rain and wind, limits of blues were caught from the beach and the Cape Henlopen Fishing Pier. Most were caught on bunker or mullet. Monday’s opening of the Delaware sea bass season was blown out, but the remainder of the week looks good. Since the blues tend to bite better in foul weather, sea bass may be the best bet for this week. The weather looks very good for the Joe Morris Memorial Flounder Tournament on Friday so please consider joining the crowds on the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal and the Broadkill River and helping solve the mystery of pancreatic cancer. It may be that the trophy rockfish season will go out with a whimper on the Chesapeake. Bad weather has made fishing and catching difficult. The good news is the season for smaller rock in the main stem of the bay will open on May 16. Chumming and jigging for these striped bass will be your best bet once the season opens.
