: Striper fishing really started to take shape this week from Buzzards Bay to the Cape and on in through the Canal. While most fish were schoolies to just-keepers, fish of 30 pounds or better were reported around the schools of mackerel. Photo by Charley Soares.
After talking to some of the same reliable sources for over 30 years it’s not all that difficult to determine the fine line between rumor, fact and fiction. This week there are numerous facts that should get even the most reluctant anglers out off the couch and hunting. How about several stripers over 40 inches and one in the 30-pound class on a live mackerel around the east end of the Canal? With bluefish that hit the beaches off Fairhaven toward the end the week having moved down to the west end, combine this with a great tautog bite and there is a choice of some great action in most areas.
