FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
West End South

Posted By Geoffrey Lawrence, May 15, 2017
All signs point to a solid opening of fluke season.
Finally, the opening day for summer flatties arrives on Wednesday. There are solid indications the fluke are setting up in the bays and are hungry. In the meanwhile, anglers are enjoying a Bass Blast and all you can catch blues. The choppers are so super abundant that they are making life miserable for bass anglers in some areas; and are so hungry they are grabbing clam baits with gusto. Jones and Fire Island Inlets are alive and kicking with activity as well as the areas from Debs to Jones Inlet. The Loop Bridge and the Meadowbrook are other fine spots to target for bass. Along the local reefs you can find porgies, ling and some market size cod along with some catch and release action on sea bass and ‘tog.
