FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Southern New Jersey

Posted By Bob Misak, June 12, 2017
While the Phils may be struggling, Al Fiedler from Erdenheim, PA found a big win last week at the 8th Street Jetty in Avalon where he hit this 33-inch, 15.97-pound striper on mackerel which he weighed in at Avalon Hodge Podge.
This week was another one for the books if you drum fished the Delaware Bay as anglers who booked trips reaped the benefit of good numbers of drum to 50 pounds. The Bonanza II lit it up and Capt. Mike Rothman had happy, happy customers, as did the anglers on board the Cape Queen this week. The flounder fishing is picking up but anglers that picked the right tides and top of outgoing triggered good bites in the back bays, with Absecon Bay getting a good bite again this week. Chopper blues were had just about everywhere and some good numbers of sizeable weakfish graced those fishing Atlantic City’s jetties, in addition to Cape May and the back waters of Avalon. Sea bass fishing still offered up good eats and sifting through shorter fish is becoming more regular. Bass fishing was hit/miss as waters warm into the 60’s, but the first week of June is when a cow can be found by those putting time in.
