FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
South Shore

Best bet for fluke this week is in the ocean or Moriches Bay.
Last week was the transitional week, but weather also played a large role. This week coming up should see a nice bounce-back with reports of better fluke action in the ocean, and Moriches Bay. Great South Bay is also cleaning up slightly, and there were reports of fluke entering the bay. As for stripers, the bunker pods are outside Fire Island and Moriches. The real hot spot however appears to be the New Inlet towards Bellport where fish over 35 are commonplace. Outside Fire Island, bass to 40 plus are on the prowl smacking spoons and mojos on the troll. For some good old fashioned bottom bouncing fun, head to any of the deep holes in the bay for all the blowfish action you can ask for. Another fun option would be bluefish. The bay blues in the 3 to 7 pound class are running from Fi to Moriches Inlet, with popping plugs and diamond jigs accounting for great action.

Fluke are right out in front of Silly Lily Fishing Station this year. Jim Bluemke brought in this 6 12 pounder with his home made bucktail. Rain or shine, the fish don't care, there already wet!! With a split tide this week, you can get an early out going and an afternoon incoming. Just before the top of high tide we've seen some nice nice fish come out of the west side of the bay near bird Island.

This weekend was a banner weekend for Flukin at Silly Lily Fishing Station. Every boat come in with a number of fluke. Lots of fish weighing up to 6 lbs were at the cleaning table. Everyone in the family scored at bouy 14, 15 20-24 and in hearts cove by the sticks. The tides are right again just in time for Fathers Day weekend. The fish aren't coming to you, you gotta go to them, so book a boat and get out there before they are booked up.
