Southern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands

Several 50-pound stripers were landed this past week including this -pounder that was weighed-in at Red Top.
This Thursday June 16, 2017 was the 50th anniversary of Charlie Cinto’s catch of the Massachusetts state record, 73-pound striper that has yet to be broken. Our plan was to meet early at my home and head to Sakonnet to get the 60 he is still missing to complete his trifecta of a 73, numerous 50’s and too many 40’s to count. We never splashed the boat due to screeching winds but that trip is on hold. There was yet another 50 taken in Cape Cod Bay this week and it was believed to be from a boat on a live mackerel. This is a great time to put a jumbo at the end of your line.

If you are bored or currently unsuccessful with stripers try sea bass. They are plentiful, eager to take a bait or hook and super delicious. The waters of Buzzards Bay are loaded with the fine tasting and fighting sea biscuits. Just don’t forget to weigh-in the biggest one of the trip for The Fisherman’s Dream Boat Challenge!
