BIG BASS ON THE TROLL AND IMPROVED FLUKING

BIG BASS ON THE TROLL AND IMPROVED FLUKING
Mojo Rigs and bunker spoons continue to score big stripers east and west of Debs Inlet.
Fluke and bass will continue to be the top items on angler’s menus. Bay fluking is holding steady at the Wantagh bridges with Jones and Reynolds Channel producing good catches of shorts and some keepers. In the bay the best depths were 15 to 30-ft. On the outside the McAllister Grounds and the Hempstead Reef are improving day by day. Overall the flatties are becoming more aggressive as the waters warm up so sharpen the hooks on your bucktails. Spearing was the best bait for most anglers. On the bass front, Mojo Rigs and bunker spoons were nailing bass on a consistent basis in the vicinity of Debs Inlet and the Roundhouse. Along the bay and local bridges fresh clams, clam chum or bunker chunks produced decent numbers of keepers and shorts.
