PLENTY OF OPTIONS
The Marino family, Briana, Anthony, Jr. and dad Anthony, Sr. found fluke skinny Barnegat Bay waters last week – about 3-1/2-foot depths – for fish to 4-1/2 pounds while fishing with Capt. Brett Taylor of Reel Reaction Charters out of Barnegat Light.
Shark fishing in the surf has picked up in recent days and there are multiple reports of big ones being landed from Bay Head on south. Kingfish have joined fluke in the surf, with reports both on LBI and Island Beach State Park. Fluke fishing in the ocean continues to be spotty but the water is starting to warm up and captains are expecting it to take off any time now. The strangest rumor of the week? Sharks in the Oyster Creek near the power plant. Big bluefish are back thanks to the shift in the weather. Crabs and snappers are making things fun for the young ones. In other words, there are options - now get out and fish!
