A FEW MORE WEAKS
A nice little weakfish for Bob Woods over the weekend aboard Capt. Vinny Makfinsky’s Morning Dew Sport Fishing and checked in at Up Front Bait and Tackle.
Despite some heavy storms and windy conditions fishing along the northern coast showed improvement. Fluke catches got better reports and many people I spoke with over the weekend told me it looks like the recent nor’easter did some good and pushed the fluke around. One thing that was common in our report was that while the numbers of fluke improved it seemed like the fish were scattered as every day they were found in a different area. Congratulations to JCAA port winners in North Jersey, including 10-year old Dylan Cole of Andover, NJ who brought a monster 9.69-pound fluke to the scales at Jersey City for top fish in the tournament. Justin Immordino of Team Rodworx won at Sandy Hook for a 6.92-pound fish, while Anthony Pansini brought his 26-1/2-inch, 9.2-pound fluke to Fisherman’s Den for top port prize at Shark River. Bottom fishing remained in excellent shape with decent numbers of sea bass, porgies, ling, triggerfish and winter flounder supplying the fishing. Bluefishing was sporadic with some bonito and mackerel mixed in, while snapper fishing has been very good

Fished Sunday in 50 feet of water. Bare jig head with Gulp was the ticket for us.
