STRUCTURE FISHING
Seven-year-old Landon Morris of Vienna, VA caught this 20-1/2-inch red drum at Indian River Inlet with Capt. Aaron Hurd of Gale Force Charters using live spot. Photo courtesy of Hook em Cook em.
Ocean structure produced some decent flounder and sea bass last week, but with the hurricane breathing down our neck I don’t think it will be fishable for much of this week. That leaves Delaware Bay where a mixed bag of croaker, spot, triggerfish and blues will be available. On the Chesapeake, water temperatures are beginning to drop and this has the blues, rock and Spanish mackerel schooled up and feeding on the surface. Trolling with metal spoons or red hoses is one way to catch these fish just make sure you run around the outside of the action, not through it.
