BLUEFISH BANGIN’

Posted By Karen Wall, September 25, 2017
BLUEFISH BANGIN’
Stellios had bluefish up to 9.8 pounds off a Seaside dock on bunker and weighed in at Grumpy’s Bait and Tackle, who reported that Barnegat Bay has offered up some great action in the past week with the bluefish, as well as striped bass.
If you think the only fishing to be done is in the ocean, you are missing out. Blackfish, blowfish and even an uptick in the crabbing are attracting the majority of attention. Bluefish are being caught in the surf if you make an effort; reports seem to indicate a lot of folks sitting back waiting for the peak fishing. Small stripers are providing light tackle fun in the evenings, which should appeal to those 9-to-5ers who can’t hit the water during the day. Best part: the bay and river are less impacted by the swells from the hurricanes, so don’t miss out. The LBI Surf Fishing Classic will kick off October 7, and organizers are expecting over 800 surfcasters for the 63rd annual tournament which runs nine weeks this year.
