JETTY DWELLERS

JETTY DWELLERS
Avalon Hodge Podge weighed in a 6.67-pound, 21-inch sheepshead for Leaming Ewing of Goshen, NJ who was using green at the TI Bridge. The folks at Avalon Hodge Podge report on plenty of short tog around both the TI Bridge and 8th Street jetty for those using green crab for bait.
The past week saw a few boats make it out front on the local structure as togs set up shop on the inshore snags, but late week winds pushed most folks inshore once again. The local jetties are still stacked with blackfish and though there are a mess of smaller fish around, that one 15-incher is still relatively easy to find. There are still some stray weakfish around, and anglers are also finding some triggers and a couple sheepshead as waters take their time cooling down. Snapper blues inhabit just about every creek and inlet, and schoolie bass are stacked in the Mullica river as the fall bass chasers find a few over 28 inches to take home, mainly in the quiet evenings and with eels. Best bet for the week is an inshore trip around the sod or structure with some shedders or green crabs for that one tog and possibly that one trout as well, with the shot at a bass or some bluefish –perhaps even a sheepshead, provided you stock up with the right baits.
