THE FALL RUN IS ON
Boats venturing south and east of Block Island did quite well on cod this past week. (Photo courtesy of Big Game Fishing RI)
From sharks to cod to stripers, pretty much everything was on the feed this past week off the Rhode Island coast. Once the inshore waters cleaned up after the passing of the recent storms, the porgies put on a major feed with a load of 2- and 3-plus-pound fish being caught (where are those Dream Boat entries?????) Cod fishing also kicked back into gear after the waters cleaned up and some excellent catches of fish to 15 pounds re being made from the southeast corner of Block on out to Coxes. That same range is also producing a good mix of blue sharks and some makos. Bass and albies ere the king of the surf news with both being landed in great numbers along South County. The few guys we heard of who targeted blackfish reported doing quite well in relatively shallow water where lighter gear is not only more fun but more sporting and often quite productive.
