TOG N’ TRIGGERS

TOG N’ TRIGGERS
Adam May and Randy Preston fished the Outer Wall last week and caught a tautog and triggerfish using sand fleas. Photo courtesy of Lewes Harbour Marina.
It looks like the best bet this week will be structure fishing for tog, sheepshead and triggerfish. Ocean wrecks, the Inner and Outer walls off of Lewes and the rocks at the Indian River Inlet Jetty have all yielded these fish. Sand fleas and green crabs have been the best baits. On the Chesapeake, you can chase schools of breaking fish, work a surface lure or liveline or chum and stand a good chance of catching a two-fish rockfish limit. Surface fishing is best in the early AM after which you can switch to any of the other techniques.
