MONSTERS ARRIVE
Looking for a Dream Boat entry? The New Jersey party boat fleet, including boats like the Mary MIV out of Barnegat Light, has found those potential tournament qualifying bluefish in the upper teen and 20-pound class.
The reopening of black sea bass season on Sunday, October 22 has many anglers and captains chomping at the bit. The ones who’ve been porgy fishing have thrown back a lot keeper-size sea bass, something that’s not good for the fish. The storm that moved through during the week forced a lot of folks to stay at the dock but there are some hints that it may have pushed tuna and other fish into the area. Stripers are still agonizingly slow in showing up because of the warmer water. Westerly wind this week may be the key to bring temperatures down. Party boats in the region on the other hand have been finding much bigger bluefish of late, upper teen and early 20-pound class.
