FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Delaware, Maryland & Chesapeake Bay

Posted By Eric Burnley, October 16, 2017
Delaware’s current sheepshead state record holder, David Walker, showed up at Lewes Harbour Marina last week with a citation 8.63-pound sheepshead that lost the battle after snacking on a sand flea.
Delaware’s sea bass season will reopen in October 22 and until then the best bet remains sheepshead fishing on bay structure. The Inner and Outer walls, the Ice Breakers and bay reef sites all hold these fish. Small tog with a few keepers have been caught from the same structure. On the Chesapeake, fishing top water early in the morning then switching to trolling has been a popular and successful pattern for striped bass. Chasing schools of breaking fish can be fun, but most of these rock and blues are quite small.
