FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
South Shore

Posted By Tom Melton, October 16, 2017
Some better quality bass have finally moved into the Fire Island area as the migration slowly builds.
I know. I know, I have said it for the last several weeks, but I truly believe that this is the week striper action really will kick into high gear. Last year, the best action began around the 23rd, and with cooler temps due in all week, I think by weeks end, anglers can expect to see a larger concentration by day on live baits – bunker, spots, and by night on live eels. For best results try and fish the top of the flood tide and outgoing along South Beach and the inlet area. For anglers casting Bass Assassins, the Moses Bridge is your hot spot. If the weather allows, bunker pods on the outside should produce well, but you may have to find the “right” pod. If all else fails, blackfish are plentiful at the Moses Bridge, but you better get there early to get a spot!
