Some good blackfish catches are being reported and it should only get better as water temperatures cool down.

Porgies are still the most dependable species to target. They are in good supply to the west at Romer Shoals, the Coney Island Flats and Breezy Point. Blackfishing has been fair to good depending on the day and sea conditions. Some charter boats sailed outside of Jones Inlet and scored on some bulldogs of 7 to 9-pounds on green crabs. The SW corner of the 3rd Wantagh Bridge has some kingfish and blowfish. On Sunday you can steam out into Federal Waters and target sea bass. They should be hungry and waiting.
