STRIPERS HIT IBSP

STRIPERS HIT IBSP
The Central Jersey trolling bite got underway in earnest last week, as Cain Ernest can attest. He shared this photo with the folks at Creekside Outfitters in Waretown which also weighed in a few 30-pound class stripers and a 45-1/2-pounder for Tom Burlinski taken on live bunker.
The consensus: the stripers are moving in. There were multiple reports particularly on Sunday of bass caught by boat, both on the snag-and-drop and trolling bunker spoons. The best report was a 45-pounder caught off Seaside and weighed in Waretown. Not everyone was fishing for stripers, however; the opening of black sea bass season had people fired up and the shops were hopping Saturday in preparation. Scattered reports say those who went for sea bass were rewarded for their patience, with coolers loaded up with sea bass, porgies and triggerfish in the mix. The activity level has risen which is providing some more consistency to the reports. Tuna are still drawing folks offshore, and there have been a decent number of swordfish caught as well.
