BACK BAY STRIPERS

BACK BAY STRIPERS
Riptide Bait and Tackle weighed in their first striper of the fall season, which earned Joe, Jr. here at $25 gift card. This one was one of several Joe caught while drifting live bait by the sod banks and through the holes behind Brigantine.
The third week in October saw the rivers to the north offer some much better bass fishing as some keeper sized liners moved in; anglers in the Mullica and Egg Harbor rivers had been on a steady diet of shorter bass, but cooler nights have triggered a good bite with some fish to 30 inches. The first of the 40-pounders have been caught on the snag and drop out in front of Seaside and LBI, and despite warm water temperatures, the first slug of bass are on the move. Sea bass season kicked off with a bang and folks were delighted to see calm seas and sunny skies for the opener. Togs are still plentiful on the inshore structure, and bigger bluefish are headed south as well, with lots of snappers still hitting baits in the surf and back waters. Little bluefish are virtually everywhere and have provided for something to do while anglers await a decent bass bite down south, but blackfishing has been the other “go-to” for those looking to fill up the frying pans at home. Perch fishing is confined from the creeks of Fortescue to the upper Mullica, if you can find a nice hole with some old structure and shrimp or bloodworms in your bag of tricks.

Took my girlfriend out fishing Saturday morning out of BrigantineAbsecan inlet. Trolled feathers, cedar plugs and Pink Ilanders with Ballyhoo. Hooked up with a Bull Mahi at the AC Ridge trolling 6 to 7 knots on the Ballyhoo. Also released several False Albacore. I was amazed to get the Mahi water temp was 67 degrees. Lot's of bait fish on the surface. No other boats around. A great day. The WindbreakerIII
