FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Delaware, Maryland & Chesapeake Bay

Posted By Eric Burnley, October 23, 2017
“One tautog and a trigger today,” said Capt. Bob Trowbridge from the Captain’s Lady on Saturday. “Congrats Daniel Dehn on winning the fish pool today with the triggerfish,” he added.
With sea bass season now open there is no doubt that will be the best bet for this week. Some heavy traffic on Sunday, but as the week goes on fishing pressure will decrease. The further offshore you go the better your chances of catching a larger class of fish. Surf fishing is getting exciting as false albacore have moved in range of the beach. Most will be caught on small metal lures cast in front of the feeding fish. Crank back as fast as you can and make sure your drag is in good working condition. On the Chesapeake, cooler temperatures have the striped bass and blues getting ready for winter. Top water action has been good in the Chester River, the Susquehanna Flats and the Magothy River. This is early morning activity and if you wait until the sun is up the fish will be down. Trolling and jigging have also produced, but first you must find a concentration of fish. The Bay Bridge Pilings have been good for jigging while the area around Baltimore Light up to the Magothy River has worked for trollers.
