FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
South Shore

Posted By Tom Melton, October 23, 2017
With federal waters reopened for sea bass, knotheads like this have become commonplace on ocean reefs and wrecks outside the three-mile limit.
Either head out on a party boat, or take your own boat to the sea bass grounds. The season in federal waters (outside the 3-mile limit) has reopened and there are plenty of big knuckleheads to be caught on the deeper pieces. The second option would be either night stripers with live eels between the CG Station and inlet or head to Moriches by day with live spots. East winds due in early in the week should really get the bass active. If you want to have fun, blackfish action at the Moses Bridge is red hot on both tides, but you have to weed through a lot of smaller fish for a keeper.
