FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
West End South

Posted By Geoffrey Lawrence, October 23, 2017
Some big stripers are hanging around bunker schools along the western South Shore.
Now is the time to take a shot at bass. They are becoming more active in the east and west. The waters south of Debs have yielded decent catches of nice size fish with some fish in the 30 to 40-pound class being taken. MoJo rigs and trolled bunker spoons or swimming plugs are nailing the stripers. Live eels have enticed bass at Fire Island and Jones Inlets, as well as the waters between the Meadowbrook and the Construction Dock. Sea bass are a fine second choice to target now that the Federal waters have reopened. Reports came in of loads of sea biscuits on the outside wrecks and reefs with good size keepers to 4-pounds.
