TROUT OR BASS?

Posted By Tom Melton, November 6, 2017
Although a lot of anglers are honing in on the recent trout stockings, there are still bass around as well. For trout, all of the stocked lakes are producing. Belmont, in spite of not being on the fall stocking list did receive a stocking according to the superintendent there. Argyle, Massapequa and West Lake, all of which received fall stockings, are all rock solid. Spinners, spoons, small worms or Berkley Trout baits have all worked well. As for bass, jigs, soft plastics and small crankbaits are the ticket, with topwater working well on the sunny side of the lake.
This week, my buddy Rick Holmberg scored several bass to 3 pounds in various lakes on jigs. I got out several times and had fish from small 1/2 pounders to a fat 3 pounder on a mix of jigs and small crankbaits.
