With the main body of the coastal striped bass stock still off the New Jersey coast, tog and black sea bass remain the best bet for this week. Tog have been caught from the bay and the ocean as well as Indian River Inlet. Black sea bass are found at the Del-Jersey-Land Reef and wrecks further east. The sea conditions in the bay and ocean will determine when and where you can fish with good weather a rare commodity. As the days get shorter and the Chesapeake Bay waters cool the striped bass are schooling up and heading out of the rivers. The best bet for this week will be trolling or jigging the mouths of rivers from the Chester down to the Choptank and from the Severn to the Magothy. Bucktails, either single or double, are always a well-received lure.
