Part of a solid catch of cod and sea bass made aboard Fish On Charters over the weekend off Block Island.
With blackfish season closing December 6 in Connecticut and December 15 in Rhode Island, the bite is finally making up for a rather slow start as a load of fish from 8 to 16-plus pounds were caught over the weekend. That big fish—16.75 pounds to be exact—was landed in Connecticut by Juan Roman and weighed-in at J&B Tackle in Niantic. Rhode Island had its share of double-digit fish as well including several 11- and 12-plus-pound fish. Block Island remains loaded with black sea bass. Some anglers seeking cod over there have found all sea bass, some finding a mix of both and others have been lucky enough to get into slid cod to the high teens.
