If you’re not into trout fishing, and the stripers haven’t arrived at your favorite spot, then why not give white perch a try?
Photos from my friends in Jersey are taking the edge off this ugly New England weather, and the one with the gannets diving on bait and breaking stripers has me green with envy! If you aren’t a trout fisherman and already have your MA saltwater license you might drive to the Palmer River and watch a group of hardy anglers catch white perch. The fishing is not fast or furious, but these men believe that any action at this time of the season is worth a bit of suffering. There is also some great trout fishing on the Cape up to Plymouth. Some of those ponds have been stocked several times and with some good-sized rainbows and brood stock. Reporting stations are seeing photos of some large trout that are being released.
