FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
North Shore

Posted By Bob Danielson, May 14, 2018
Stripers holding strong in the western Sound. Night trips aboard Sound Bound III have seen steady action.
Fluke, porgies, stripers and now bluefish are in the mix. The week kicked off to a decent start with big porgies starting to show all over the North Shore this week and the fluke fishing is getting better with a few decent fish getting weighed in. Good sizes of both fish were in the reports this week. Porgies over the two pound mark hit the scales this week. Fluke over three pounds were coming up as well. Some good bass fishing was still going on in the western Sound and the first reports of bluefish. The fluke seem to be in the shallower water with water under fifteen feet being the better depths to target. The warmer weather patterns we are starting to see have been getting the fishing moving in the right direction with better catches being made. The only missing character from the cast is the weakfish. My guess is that we’ll start hearing about them within the next week or two as well.
