FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Southern New Jersey

Posted By Bob Misak, May 14, 2018
The Delaware Bay fleet should be on the traditional drumming grounds hot and heavy this week, but as Andy at Riptide Bait and Tackle in Brigantine showed with this photo from Drew (who used 6 ounces in the Brigantine surf on Sunday) those boomers are in along the beaches and sod banks too.
It’s a beat-to-the-meat black drum tempo in Delaware Bay and along south region beaches, with mixed size stripers and bluefish providing consistent action along the sands, in the inlets and throughout the back bays and ICW. Weakfish to tiderunner size status are popping up in the back and along the jetties, and it continues a very frustrating catch-and-release game with flounder. Through it all, it’s Tuesday’s sea bass opener and the May 25 flattie legalization that are the locus of the focus of the eager angler legions.
