Fisherman's Den

A few fish are snapping in the Shark River area according to Bobby at Fisherman's Den in Belmar. According to Bob, Spanish mackerel, small blues and stripers are giving surf fishermen some good action. It's all about being in the right place at the right time, but higher tides are a good bet to find fish feeding.

Bobby at Fisherman's Den in Belmar checked in again to report that Spanish macks hit the tip of the Shark River Inlet this week and were pouncing on Hogy Epoxy jigs. Small bass can be caught in the early morning hours on sand fleas and clams, with a few keeper class linesiders in the mix. Keep on drifting those bucktails with Gulp inside the inlet as fluke are still hunkered down and willing to strike.

At the Fisherman's Den in Belmar, the word was that the Shark River Inlet had a mess of short fluke but if you put in your time you could find those keepers using killies, squid and spearing combos. Triggerfish were hanging over the jetty rocks and nipping away at sandworms and bloodworms.
