October 15, 2018:
The crew of the Skylarker got in four trips this past week. Capt. Steve Spinelli said he started the sea bass fishing on Monday with the Mark Fichera charter who braved rough seas for a good pull of sea bass and porgies. Next up were member of the South Jersey Fishing Club who caught sea bass to 4.8 pounds and big porgies with Matt taking the pool. The Pat Salvetto group fished offshore and beat up on mahi to 12 pounds, bluefins, banded rudderfish and blue runners, then fished inshore for a good pull of porgies and sea bass. A group of servicemen from the McGuire-Dix Joint Base were on the decks on Saturday for another excellent catch of sea bass and porgies to finish up the week.

    A lone trip aboard the Skylarker accounted for a good bite of porgies and blowfish. Capt. Steve Spinelli said the Bill Metz charter enjoyed a good day of bottom fishing. Steve told me he will be taking this week off for vacation with a trip south before the fall fishing kicks in.

    Five trips aboard the Skylarker found some decent fishing. Capt. Steve Spinelli said he started the week off with a party from the Recreation Department at the Fort Dix-McGuire Joint Base who saw a pick of porgies. Next up was the Steve Briggs charter who decked a mix of fluke, winter flounder, porgies and sea bass. The Amos Fisher group opted for bluefish and got into the cocktails, while the Ely Stolltfus party enjoyed a good pull of porgies, blues and blowfish. On Saturday the Target Fire Protection group boated porgies, triggerfish, sea bass and blowfish.

    A group form the Fountain House Tavern was aboard on Saturday prior to the blow and enjoyed a good pick of ling at the Mud Hole aboard the Skylarker. Capt. Steve Spinelli said the boat did not sail again until this past Saturday because of the weather. Aboard was the Tom Tomacheviach charter who also decked a nice catch of ling along with a couple of winter flounder and several lobsters.

  • September 10, 2018 Open or Close

    Four trips aboard the Skylarker put anglers into some good fishing. Capt. Steve Spinelli said he started off the week by putting the Rich Edmunds charter into a good bite of flatties with Wayne Mancini taking the pool with a 6-pounder. The Fred Morris party was aboard for their last trip of the season and also enjoyed a good pick of fluke along with some very good mahi fishing with fish to 5 pounds, and a 6-pound fluke topping a limit taking the pool for Tom Grybowski. The Steve Sheagan group opted for slammers and enjoyed non stop action with blues to 4 pounds. Last but not least members of the Renaissance Fishing Club were on the decks for a good catch of ling at the Mud Hole.
