Capt. Steve Spinelli of the Skylarker told me he spent the week up in Maine visiting Capt. Garry Fagan. Gary used to own the Mohawk and two other boats that ran out of Belmar. I knew Gary back in those days and he used to be one of the best bottom fishing captains along the Jersey coast. Steve said Garry is living the life of leisure running a whale watching boat in Maine. Steve did say he got in one trip on Saturday with the McGuire Air Force Bass Recreation Department and put them into a mix of porgies, tog and sea bass. Steve said he is looking forward to finally being able to keep some of the sea bass he has been throwing back by the ton! The boat does have some dates available for November and December bottom fishing, both inshore and offshore.
