Green Harbor Bait & Tackle

October 21, 2019:
As Scott from Green Harbor Bait and Tackle put it, there have been great numbers of "pelagic titans", aka bluefin tuna, in the local haunts. Giant fishing was excellent before the closure; with the crew of the FV Shadow Line scoring big right up to the first October storm. The 900 Line, Wood End, Stellwagen, and Nauset, have all been hot at one time or another. Scott said that there is a large fleet of recreational and charter captains prying the waters as seas continue to settle from the last big storm.

Scott from Green Harbor Bait and Tackle said that he didn't know of any boats venturing to the canyons this week. That being said, recreational and charter anglers were enjoying some of the finest inshore bluefin fishing in decades, with two to five bites per day being fairly common as of late. Scott said that the fishing has been stellar from Peaked Hill right up to the east side of Stellwagen.

Scott from Green Harbor Bait & Tackle passed along the following report: "Tuna, herring, mackerel, and strong new moon tides provided lots of anglers with catch and release 80- to 100-inch bluefin at Stellwagen, Peaked Hill, and the whiting grounds. Some of the best elderly charter captains showed up the young crowd by landing their limit with slot fish. Canyons were covered up with 83-degree Gulf water from Hydro to West Atlantis. The best action was up on the night grounds north of the edge inside Lydonia. Blue marlin and big yellowfin, with enough time for day drop swords."

Veatch and Hydrographer canyons have been producing yellowfin plus a few bigeye and blue marlin.
