Capt. Joe on the Mijoy said, "Let us start off by wishing all those affected by Hurricane Florence the best of luck in the cleanup and recovery from the storm—our thoughts and prayers are with you. It was a weird week here at home; perfectly nice weather with the phone ringing pretty good. The porgies remain big and heavy mixed with some nice sea bass. We will continue to sail 7 days a week for a long time yet so come on down and get a bunch of porgy fillets for the freezer. Call the office or go to the Mijoy website for more details."

Capt. Joe of the Mijoy emailed his report over on Sunday morning, "Well, the bluefish season ended like it began with a handful on most trips and occasionally a decent showing. Saturday was opening day of the September and October porgy season and Capt. Seth zeroed right in on a big pile. Even though it was a half-day some of our best anglers went home with their limit of 45 fat scup. A few nice sea bass were also caught, the limit for sea bass went up to 7 as of September 1 on for-hire boats. This week fishing was very good on the all-day trips including a 40-pound bass caught on a Mijoy clam. We are still getting good amounts of all bottom species even some nice fluke coming in, along with some triggerfish. The weather looks like it could be iffy this week and if you have concerns please call the Mijoy at 860-443-0663, leave a message if you don't reach us and I will get back to you. Don't let the TV doom and gloom weathermen steer you the wrong way. We have spots that will put you comfortably on the fish, depending on the wind direction."

Capt. Joe on the Mijoy reports, "It was certainly one of the most beautiful weekends of the summer warm but not too hot. The blues were up and down like they were all summer, our Saturday afternoon trip was certainly better than the morning. Bill "Corn and Cashew" Perleoni caught a whopper bluefish to take the pool that would have even made Scott Lum envious. The last two days of bluefish trips this season are the 28th and 30th of August, but charter dates are available in September and October. So beginning September 1 through October 31st the boat will sail for porgy and sea bass all day trips Monday through Friday and half days at 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. the porgy limit goes up to 45 fish and sea bass goes up to 7 fish . If you have a group of friends or coworkers Charters are available Monday through Friday for bass and blues or bottom fishing, call now and and we'll get you set up."

According to Capt. Joe of the Mijoy, "This weekend the bluefishing finally broke open and it felt just like "the old days." On some trips it was all blues, others there were some sea bass and one or two keeper stripers. Fingers crossed that this is the sign that they'll stay in place and keep us busy for the rest of our August trips! Going forward we will be bottom fishing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as it continues to be productive and interesting. You can be sure to get your fill of porgies and catch some sea bass as a mix of fluke, mackerel, and even some triggerfish pop in on some trips, so you're never entirely sure what you'll find at the end of the line."
