Seven B's

October 15, 2018:
Capt. Russ Benn of the Seven B's reported that fishing has been very good on recent trips with customers catching plenty of scup, some sea bass, a few bluefish and even a few cod. Sea bass and scup trips will continue run from Wednesday through Sunday from 7 to 4 for another week or two before they start to transition over to tautog fishing. Reservations are required and there are a few private charters scheduled in the coming weeks so be sure to call ahead before heading down to the dock.

    Capt. Russ Benn of the Seven B's said that recent trips for black sea bass and scup have been very productive with customers catching lots of scup in the 2- to 3 pound class and pretty good numbers of sea bass up to around 3 pounds. A few bluefish and the occasional codfish have been rounding out the catch. Sea bass and scup trips will continue run from Wednesday through Sunday from 7 to 4 until at least the middle of October when they may start to transition over to tautog fishing. Reservations are required and there are a few private charters scheduled in the coming weeks so be sure to call ahead before heading down to the dock.

    Capt. Russ Benn of the Seven B's said that fishing has been very good on recent trips with customer's catching a mix of nice-sized black sea bass and scup. Some of the bigger scup have been in the 2- to 3-pound range, and they are seeing sea bass to around 3 or maybe even 4 pounds. Not much for cod on recent trips, but there have been some triggerfish and even a few striped bass mixed-in. Sea bass and scup trips will continue to run from Wednesday through Sunday from 7 to 4. There are also "6 pack" trips available for smaller parties on the Jeanie B. Reservations are required and there are a few private charters scheduled for both boats in the coming weeks so be sure to call ahead before heading down to the dock.

  • September 24, 2018 Open or Close

    Capt. Russ Benn of the Seven B's said that the weather put a damper on the fishing for most of the week, but things started to turn around on Saturday afternoon as conditions finally improved. Anglers on Saturday and Sunday were rewarded with good number of black sea bass to around 5 pounds and plenty of big scup in the 2- to 3-pound range. Along with sea bass and scup they had half a dozen keeper cod and even a few pollock. Capt. Russ was very happy to see pollock in local waters again, hopefully they will stick around for fall fishing. Sea bass and scup trips will run from Wednesday through Sunday from 7 to 4.     Capt. Russ Benn of the Seven B's reported that fishing bounced back nicely after the storm this past week. Fishing for sea bass and scup has been excellent on the last few trips with a few bluefish mixed-in. Sea bass to around 5 pounds and some nice dinner-plate-sized scup have been keeping anglers and mates very busy at the rails. No sign of fluke on recent trips so going forward they will be focusing on sea bass and scup. These sea bass and scup trips will run from Wednesday through Sunday from 7 to 4. Reservations are required and there are a few private charters scheduled in the coming weeks so be sure to call ahead before heading down to the dock.
