Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Willie on the Starstream VIII said the fluke season is basically done so on Sunday he switched over to mixed bag fishing and the fares encountered sea bass, porgies, blues and some false albies. Half-day runs for a mixed bag will sail daily at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie said the open boat combo trips for fluke, sea bass and scup will sail at 6 a.m. saw decent fishing on the days he sailed. On the weekend he stayed in the bay for some shorts and a couple of keepers. Half-day runs for fluke sail daily at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie said he sailed on Sunday and found the ocean still a little riled up. However, the fares were able to connect with some jumbo sea bass, a few fluke, nice triggerfish and a few porgies.     Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Willie on the Starstream VIII said the flattie bite is still pretty decent with pool fish running from 6 to 9-pounds. A handful of sea bass come up in the by catch. Half-day runs for fluke sail daily at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie said the full day combo runs for fluke, sea bass and porgies were excellent especially for flatties and sea biscuits. Fat fluke to 7-12 pounds came to the net. Open boat combo trips for fluke, sea bass and scup will sail at 6 a.m. on September 16, 18, 23 and 24. The Ocean Fluke Special on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. was outstanding as an 8-12 pounder was drilled and most fares easily limited out.     Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Willie on the Starstream VIII said the flatties are keeping rods bent and anglers very happy. All in all a good week with only a couple of slow days. The boat is averaging 25 to 45 keepers per trip with plenty of shorts. He is working the ocean unless weather conditions force him into the bay. Half-day runs for fluke sail daily at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie said the full day combo runs for fluke, sea bass and porgies are providing a seafood buffet for his fares. Thursday's run saw medium to jumbo sea bass to 4.5-pounds and medium to large scup. The highlight of the trip was a massive 9-pound, 11-ounce fluke. Anthony advised that if you intend to focus on the flatties bring some Nuclear Chicken GULP; it is THE key to success.     Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Willie on the Starstream VIII said he has found the summer flatties in the 40 to 60-ft. ranges. The pool fish are averaging 7 to 8-pounds daily. There are plenty of shorts to go along with the keepers. Half-day runs for fluke sail daily at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie said the full day fluke trips are now sailing as combo runs for fluke, sea bass and porgies. Action was excellent and flatties to 9-12 pounds have come to the net. On August 30 and Sept.1 and 2 open boat combo trips for fluke, sea bass and scup will sail at 6 a.m. Anthony has Special Ocean Wreck Doormat Fluke trips set for Sept. 4, 13, 19 and 26.
