Capt. Lou Fleet

June 18, 2018:
Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Chris Gables on the Starstream VIII said a morning trip earlier in the week was pretty much the same with shorts and a few keepers. The picture was a little brighter in the afternoon as over 120 summer flatties came up with nice keepers for the dinner table and bluefish as well. Half-day runs for fluke sail daily at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Chris asked me to remind you that they now have special fares. Senior Mondays, (65+) Kids Tuesdays, Ladies Day Wednesdays (65+) and FiremenPoliceVeterans Thursdays for anglers who meet those criteria. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie was pleased to report the number of fares aboard was only 13 but there was nothing unlucky about it since they crushed the cod. Anthony decided he need to head to the "Promised Land" so the boat took a six-hour ride. Just two drops and it was game on. The first drop saw small to teen size cod, giant bergals, a haddock and two wolf fish that were released. The next wreck was jumbo cod city. Several sharpies limited out and a few cow cod popped lines. The next 18 Hour Offshore Special for cod that is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26. Don't miss out, this one will fill up quickly. Most offshore trips are limited load and reservations are required. (516) 623-5823. Full day fluke runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. will sail on June 21 and 25.
