Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Michael Wasserman of the Starstream VIII told me the next 40 to 50 Mile Wreck Runs for Jumbo Sea BassCodLing will sail on November 22, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 29. These trips will depart at 4 a.m. and you must reserve a space. The Offshore Specials to the 60 to 80 Mile Wrecks will depart in December at various dates and times so please check the website or call the office. In other news, striped bass fishing on Saturday morning was off the wall as a full boat limit was accomplished by 9:30 a.m. On Sunday the boat sailed with a few anglers in hard winds. Capt. Mike stayed inside and clam chummed for a dozen bass. Bass trips sail on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 a.m. Capt. Mike's Annual King of the 'Tog Tournament Special on Friday saw the participants brave 6 to 10-ft. seas and 30 knot winds. Twenty keepers and some shorts were found and the captain noted that anglers with experience and talent did the best. For the second time in three years Anthony A from the Bronx became King of the 'Tog with a 6-pound plus fish. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie reported blackfishing on Tuesday was very good with many limits around the boat. There was a decent amount of short life to keep everyone interested. As a bonus the fares caught some bass on jigs at the end of the day. On Saturday the fares experienced a slow pick in some nautical seas. Some anglers managed to bag a limit but most did not. For the next couple of weeks the Captain Lou VII will be sailing from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for night striped bass starting this Friday and Saturday night. The fare is $60 per person and includes bait and tackle. The next blackfish trips will sail on November 24, 26, 27, and December 3, 4, 5, 6 and 14 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Thanksgiving Day Special will sail from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. The captain has added two High Stakes 'Tog-A-Thon trips that will sail on November 29 and December 13 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fare is $95 and the pool is $80.     Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Michael Wasserman of the Starstream VIII told me now is the time to put sea bass and cod on your rod. Earlier in the week it was all about jumbo sea bass as the captain steamed down the beach and it paid off big with lock and load action. He found plenty of fish in the 5-pound class. Add to that porgies, blues and a yellow tail flounder. On Wednesday, the fares connected with loads of cod, loads of jumbo sea bass and porgies. The next 40 to 50 Mile Wreck Runs for Jumbo Sea BassCodLing will sail on November 15, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 29. These trips will depart at 4 a.m. and you must reserve a space. Capt. Mike's Annual King of the 'Tog Tournament Special will sail at 5:30 a.m. this Friday, November 17th. Reservations are required. On a different note, a crew trip for striped bass on Monday saw the guys limit out by 10 a.m. on fish to 40-pounds. A private charter on Saturday saw a boat limit of fish from 25 to 30-pounds. Bass trips will sail at 7 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie reported Tuesday's blackfish trip was very good for a light crowd. Everyone caught fish and there were limits all around the boat. The run on Thursday was a decent pick in the afternoon and fair in the afternoon. The experienced 'tog anglers no problem catching their limit and some nailed as many as 25 fish including shorts. The less experienced folks caught some fish but had a tough time bagging a limit.     Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Michael Wasserman of the Starstream VIII told me the Offshore Wreck trip experienced excellent sea bass action on Friday's run. The day started off slowly but built up its momentum. The captain had to move further out but it resulted in drops that produced sea biscuits to 5-pounds. The overall catch included a nice amount of scup, a few cod to 12-pounds and plenty of blues. Most anglers went home with a good mixed bag. The captain worked one area until 12:30 p.m. and it provided a fair amount of life for most anglers on board. Anthony went for the kill at the end of the day and humbly admitted he shot himself in the foot with that move, but added he would rather try and fail than not try at all. On Friday 'tog life was very good. There were loads of shorts along with a good amount of keepers for most fares. Many bagged their limit or came very close. On Friday morning the fares had a good time on the bottom fishing grounds. Porgies and sea bass were on the menu with plenty of action to keep everyone busy.     Over on the Capt. Lou Fleet on the Nautical Mile in Freeport Capt. Michael Wasserman of the Starstream VIII told me they saw another week of lock and load porgy fishing. It's been full buckets and limits around the boat with good numbers of sea bass mixed in. This week half-day trips will continue and depart daily at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Beginning on November 1st Capt. Mike will resume his popular 40 to 50 Mile Wreck Runs for Sea BassCodPorgies. The trips are set for November 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27 and 29. These trips will depart at 4 a.m. and you must reserve a space. Over on the Capt. Lou VII Capt. Anthony Gillespie reported earlier in the week on Monday the fares saw decent blackfishing for the first half of the morning and then they picked away the rest of the day. The size was good on one drop with decent short life to fill in the gap. The next day action was a tough pick for a great group of highly skilled fishermen. Wednesday's run was slightly better but still not up to par. The next blackfish trips will sail on October 24 and November 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The captain has added two High Stakes 'Tog-A-Thon trips that will sail on November 29 and December 13 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fare is $95 and the pool is $80.
