Parker Pete's Fishing Charters

July 16, 2018:
Sea bass and fluke provided the fishing for anglers fishing aboard the Parker Pete. Capt. Pete Sykes said the sea bass action was excellent while the fluke fishing was still not as good as it should be. Pete said because of the big influx of trigger fish he will be putting them on the menu this week.

A pair of very successful evening striper trips put the Parker Pete back in the striped bass business. Capt. Pete Sykes said his evening striper trip last Saturday found bass boiling on the surface and his charter enjoyed an excellent pull of big bass to 45 pounds while trolling and casting. While Thursday's trip did not see the big numbers of bass the trip accounted for another good evening bite of nice size bass amid sloppy weather. A few fluke trips accounted for some decent size fluke and sea bass.

The crew of the Parker Pete ended their spring bass fishing on a good note, said Capt. Capt. Pete Sykes. Pete told me Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening trips accounted for bass to 52 pounds, but fishing seemed to go bust on Friday evening with only one bass being caught. Friday and Saturday morning fluke trips saw some encouraging action and with the warm spell sure to give inshore water temps a boost Pete said he will be fishing fluke fulltime starting this week.

"We have been running like crazy with double striped bass trips every day," said Capt. Pete Sykes of the Parker Pete. Pete told me the last couple weeks saw some hit or miss striped bass fishing due to a lack of bunker along the inshore waters. "We got in some good sea bass fishing before the fishing shut down," he said. Pete mentioned that he plans to start twilight shark fishing from 3 to 9:30 p.m. and will be starting the boat's summer fluke trips too.

Bottom fishing is giving up plenty of sea bass and ling, and striped bass fishing has been hit or miss, reported Capt. Peter Sykes of the Parker Pete. Pete said one big surprise did come their way this past week, in the form of a 350-pound thresher shark. Pete said the crew was trolling in the ocean with the Forest Electric party for stripers and the big set of teeth hammered a spoon. Sure would like to see what's left of that spoon! After a 3-hour fight the big fish was boated. Needless to say everyone went home tired after the trip. The boat will be staying with the stripers and mixing in some bottom fishing for anyone interested.
